Yamaha Music Education develops musical skills with three fundamental principles:

Timely Education

Introducing the fundamentals of music from the start

In order for children to enjoy music and to absorb and understand the given material easily, we believe it is best to give them appropriate guidance in accordance with the degree of their physical and mental development. Based upon this concept of timely education, the Yamaha method introduces music fundamentals to children at the time when their hearing capabilities are rapidly developing.

Group Lessons

We all learn better in groups

Group lessons have many advantages that enable children to enjoy rich musical experiences such as making friends through music, developing cooperativeness and deepening understanding of music through participation in ensembles. For this purpose, Yamaha has adopted a method whereby students can listen and play in a group, learning music while enjoying it.

Emphasis on Creativity

Learning through creating

In order to enable students to develop their creative capabilities, it is important to help them develop the ability to express themselves by thinking freely. We hope to help them acquire and enhance sensitivity and imagination, which are both sources of creativity, through our comprehensive system of music education.

FAQ

Am I too old (or too young) to learn to play music?

You can learn to play music at any age!  We teach seniors, adults and children starting at 4 years old.

How much do music lessons cost?

Private lessons are $120/month (weekly 30 minute lesson) or $160/month (weekly 45 minute lesson).

Group lessons are $100/month (weekly 45-60 minute lessons).

Group piano lessons for adults are $25 per session.

What is the difference between group and private lessons?

Private lessons are a good fit if you have a specific goal to achieve and want faster results.

Group lessons are excellent if you want an enriching musical experience: playing with others, sharing the sound space, experiencing harmony, jamming and learning together.

Children under the age of 7 are encouraged to learn in a group setting. They learn a lot from each other and their listening skills improve faster than in private lessons, due to the group singing, ensemble playing and team playing.

How are groups for group music lessons divided?

Group lessons are typically divided by age range: ages 4-6, ages 7-9, ages 10-13, ages 14-17, and 18+.
